You don't have to go it alone.

 

I learn lessons from my garden sometimes. 

Some gardeners refer to the scenario when the seedling won't let go of it's seed coat naturally as "helmet head". It's exact cause is not known but the assumption is that the seed wasn't planted deeply enough that the growth coaxes the coat loose as it should once it sprouts. The seed does what seeds do, it grows and flourishes as best it can but it hold on to this remnant of where it came from and what it has been through. It isn't necessarily a deadly predicament but it can impede photosynthesis and ultimately, growth.

I stood out in the greenhouse spritzing teeny plant babies and carefully turning them loose from their coats this afternoon and it made me think.

Everything on earth needs a helping hand sometimes. Everything, and everyone. Maybe you've been holding onto your metaphorical seed coat--whatever it may be--, and I'm sure it served you well. Look how far you have come! I know it is scary to put your heart, or whatever it might be, in someone else's hands but this is your reminder that it's okay to let go AND IT IS OKAY TO ASK FOR HELP. Find the things and people that help you gently grow and let them support you along the way, okay? Just because you are capable of handling it on your own, and have in the past, doesn't mean you HAVE to go it alone forever. Vulnerability is beautiful and brave and necessary for growth. #growthroughwhatyougothrough
